Methodology
How Hindly collects, normalises and compares prices across Estonian grocery stores. Prices at checkout may differ.
Data sources
Prices are sourced from Rimi, Selver, Prisma, Coop, Maxima and Lidl Estonia through a third-party data provider. Each product is refreshed on demand or during a scheduled refresh cycle.
Price per kilo
The price per kilogram (€/kg) is the primary comparison metric. When a store displays it explicitly, that value is used. Otherwise it is calculated from the shelf price and the pack weight extracted from the product name or unit label (e.g. "400 g", "1 L"). Liquid products use €/L instead. Products sold by the piece (tk) show the unit price.
Product matching
Store products are matched into a single catalog entry using EAN barcodes when available. A catalog product groups all store variants of the same item so you can compare prices side by side.
Egg best price methodology
Finding the best egg price is not only about comparing pack prices. A larger egg may cost more, but also contains more edible product. Our methodology focuses on the real volume-to-price ratio by comparing:
- Average egg weight
- Price per egg
- Price per 100 g
- Overall value efficiency
This creates a more transparent comparison between egg sizes.
| Size | Avg. weight | Price / egg | Price / 100 g | Value ratio |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| M | ~58 g | €0.30 | €0.52 | Best value |
| L | ~68 g | €0.36 | €0.53 | Slightly more convenient |
| XL | ~73 g | €0.40 | €0.55 | Least efficient |
